Welcome on the web page of the project "Quasars as tracers of the dark energy". The aim of the project is the study of the dark energy, and quasars will be used as the means. Required quasar observations are performed with the 10-m telescope Southern African Large Telescope (SALT). News:2015-08-25 - Cosmological conference in Warsaw "1st Roman Juszkiewicz Symposium: The non-linear Universe" is taking place now in Warsaw. Dark energy and the role of quasars are among the leading topics and a perfect opportunity . More on the conference can be found at the conference web page. 2015-08-09 - Observaions flow in exceptionally well this season ... We have just received a set of spectra for all three quasars, done night after night. A lot of work at data reduction ahead of us! 2014-09-1 - Obsevations flow in slowly ... In this semester we planned to collect two observation for each of the sources. We got one for each of them. Well, happens. The weather was not kind for us. 2014-08-6 - paper accepted! The third paper resulting from the project, and the second one with the detailed analysis of the SALT observations has just been accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics. The paper "SALT long-slit spectroscopy of CTS C30.10: two-component Mg II line" describes five observations of this quasar done in the period from December 2012 to May 2014. The text of the paper (without final corrections) is here. 2013-11-4 - paper accepted! The second paper which came out of the project, and the first one describing in detail the analysis of the quasar spectra collected with the SALT telescope has just been accepted to Astronomy & Astrophysics. The paper "SALT long-slit spectroscopy of LBQS 2113+4538: variability of the Mg II and Fe II component" shows three observations of this quasar done at the very beginning of the project. The text of the paper (without the final corrections) is here. 2013-09-17 - New proposal for SALT accepted! The new proposal for continuation of observations has been accepted. Three selected quasars will be observed also in this semester. 2013-08-02 - New observational proposals for SALT and a new prson in the project We completed the proposal for new observations and we wait now for the panel decision... Since October a new PhD student, Justyna Modzelewska, joins the group. 2013-06-11 - What is the connection between Tierieszkowa and SALT ? You can learn that from the material Ewy Gazda iWoman, if you are fluent in Polish. 2013-05-27 - first paper accepted! The first paper resulting from the project, has been finally accepted to Astronomy & Astrophysics; full text is available here. 2013-05-22 - SALT: scientific session In 22 - 24 May in Warsaw there will be a SALT Board Meeting.. The first day will be devoted to scientific results from SALT. We will present our results from the quasar monitoring program. More information about the meeting... 2013-04-28 - we have sent the first paper for publication The paper about the strategy of the planned observations, under the modified title "Towards equation of state of dark energy from quasar monitoring: Reverberation strategy" have been sent off to Astronomy & Astrophysics", after addressing the comments of the referee. We now wait for new referee report. 2013-03-20 - new observations In March we have got an observation of a quasar CTS C30.10. See full list... 2013-02-21 - interview in the srvice of Polska Agencja Prasowa, and some other media(e.g. in portal Onet) an interview with prof. Bożena Czerny has been published (in Polish) on the subject of the project. Interview (in Polish)... 2013-01-21 - new observations In January we have got the spectra for five objects. Full list is here... 2013-01-01 - grant of the Fundation for Polish Science Prof. Bożena Czerny has been awarded the grant funded by the Foundation for Polish Science, within the frame of the "Maestro" scheme. The project is entitled "Quasars as tracers of the dark energy". It will continue till 31 December 2015. Lista laureatów konkursu FNP "Mistrz Edycja 2012"... |
