The Team

The people behind the Old Milky Way

Besides the co-PIs, the Old Milky Way team includes positions for three post-docs.

  • Rodolfo Smiljanic (Polish co-PI)
Rodolfo is an associate professor at CAMK/PAN. As one of the PIs, he is the main responsible for the project on the Polish side, following up the project progress to guarantee the tasks are successfully completed.

  • Norbert Christlieb (German co-PI)
Norbert is a professor at the Zentrum für Astronomie of the Ruprecht Karls Universität Heidelberg. As one of the PIs, he is the main responsible for the project on the German side, following up the project progress to guarantee the tasks are successfully completed.

  • Deepak (Postdoc based in Warsaw)
Deepak is a post-doc at CAMK/PAN. He has a Ph.D. degree in astrophysics from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, India, awarded by the Pondicherry University under an agreement between IIA and the University. He has experience using results from large stellar surveys, like GALAH, LAMOST, and Gaia, and in using such data to determine stellar properties like kinematics, orbits, masses, and ages. In the Old Milky Way project, he is responsible for the methods to analyse flux-calibrated spectra, in particular with connection to the CUBES spectrograph.

  • Susmitha Antony (Postdoc based in Heidelberg)
Susmitha is a post-doc at the Zentrum für Astronomie of the Ruprecht Karls Universität Heidelberg. She has a Ph.D. degree in astrophysics from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, India. She has experience using results from large stellar surveys and in the analysis of high-resolution spectra for the determination of atmospheric parameters and chemical abundances. In the Old Milky Way project, she is responsible for the methods to analyse high-resolution spectra, in particular with connection to the 4MOST spectrograph.
