At present I am a assistant professor at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center, Polish Academy of Sciences and the Director of the SALT Telescope Board (South Africa). If you are interested in my current research interest click here.
I received my Ph.D. degree in 1987 at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Centre, Warsaw. My supervisor was Janusz Ziólkowski and the title of my thesis is "Effect of rapid mass accretion onto the low-mass main sequence stars". A lot of the results from my thesis have appeared as papers in Acta Astronomica
I spent one year (1988) at the Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik, Garching, as a post-doc., where I have collaborated with Dr. F.Meyer. During my stay in MPA, Garching, I have modelled the irradiation effect in cataclysmic variables and its influence on the mass-overflow. I spent two years (1991-1993) at the Astronomy Centre, University of Sussex, Brighton, as a research fellow. I have collaborated with Dr Robert Connon Smith about theoretical and observational research on pre-cataclysmic, cataclysmic variables and Algol-type binaries.
